The California Dreamin Transgender Convention, April 17-20, 2008, at the Hotel Doubletree, San Jose

Publishing Trans Voices

When: Friday, April 18, 1:30–2:30 pm

Where: San Carlos Room

The transgender community gains allies and wisdom when more trans people raise their voices to tell their stories. Whether targeting a trans audience or the wider public, a rich variety of media are available today to sing your song, from the traditionally published trans autobiography, to self-published works, to websites, blogs, and podcasts. In this session, author Lannie Rose uses her experience working in all these media to discuss benefits and challenges of various approaches, and to share some tips on successfully writing, producing, and publishing your own story.

Living in the Trans Woman's Body
A group encounter moderated by Lannie Rose

When: Friday, April 18, 4:30–5:30 pm

Where: San Carlos Room

Trans women come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and races—and we are all beautiful! Sharing intimately with each other about our bodies can be a very empowering experience. This closed-door, clothing-optional workshop is an opportunity for trans women to discuss the special issues unique to our bodies. The format is a group encounter, not a lecture. We can talk about health issues, body image, self-esteem, sexuality, or anything else related to our bodies.

Attendance is restricted to self-identified trans women including pre-op, post-op, non-op, and even pre-transition women. (However, discussion will focus on our post-transition bodies, not transition.) Join us, and know that you are not alone.

Doors will be locked at the beginning of the session, so don't be late!
